Guillaume Richard is a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation practice. He advises clients on complex disputes involving particular legal, technical or strategic challenges, including financial arrangements, technical defects, court-appointed expert proceedings, multi-party disputes and cross-border matters. Guillaume has a strong ability to quickly grasp the complexity and key issues of a case, enabling him to identify critical leverage points and devise a strategy aligned with his clients’ commercial interests. He places particular emphasis on developing creative solutions that allow clients to retain control over the timing, cost and outcome of their disputes.
His practice focuses primarily on the industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors, the circular economy and waste management, real estate, and the energy transition in the built environment. He handles a broad range of commercial disputes, including disputes arising from the termination of business relationships, civil and professional liability claims, post-acquisition disputes and directors’ and officers’ liability. He also advises on disputes arising from crises affecting contractual performance, including hardship, force majeure, supply-chain disruptions, contract renegotiations and economic imbalances, as well as fraudulent asset-shielding and insolvency schemes, in particular those involving cross-border universal transfers of assets and liabilities (transmissions universelles de patrimoine).
Guillaume also represents creditors faced with the insolvency of their counterparties, whether in safeguard (sauvegarde), judicial reorganisation (redressement judiciaire) or judicial liquidation (liquidation judiciaire) proceedings. His work includes filing proofs of claim, asserting title and recovery claims, enforcing security interests, setting off connected claims, and protecting creditors’ rights before the juge-commissaire (insolvency judge) and the courts hearing the merits of the dispute.
Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2018, Guillaume holds a Master 2 in General Private Law from Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas. He regularly contributes to legal publications and provides training to professionals in the renewable energy sector. He is recognised by Best Lawyers in its “Ones to Watch” category.
